Addiction & Recovery Therapy

You can change your relationship with alcohol or drugs—and build a life you want to stay present for.

Substance Use Disorder Therapy in Kerrville, TX • Virtual Throughout Texas

Maybe your substance use has become the way you get through the day, quiet your mind, feel confident, or escape for a while. Maybe things look fine from the outside, but you know how much energy it takes to manage your drinking or drug use. You do not have to wait for a crisis to ask for help.

At Embracing Change Therapy, I offer substance use disorder therapy for people in Austin, TX, and virtually. Whether you are questioning your relationship with alcohol, working toward sobriety, or trying to protect the recovery you have built, we can start where you are.

START WHERE YOU ARE

Do you feel like this?

  • You keep promising yourself you will cut back, then find yourself in the same cycle.

  • You use alcohol or drugs to feel calmer, more social, less lonely, or less overwhelmed.

  • You spend a lot of time thinking about when you can use again—or about what happened the last time you did.

  • You feel shame about your substance use and dread being judged if you talk about it honestly.

  • You have stopped or reduced your use, but the feelings you were trying to escape are still there.

  • You are doing well on paper, which makes it harder to admit that something needs to change.

If some of this sounds familiar, we can talk about it without forcing a label or a promise you are not ready to make. Curiosity is enough to begin.

Substance use is often a solution that has started creating problems

Alcohol or drugs may have helped you find relief, connection, confidence, or a break from painful thoughts. Understanding what they have been doing for you matters. So does looking honestly at what they are costing you now.

In therapy, we will pay attention to both. We can explore cravings, triggers, habits, relationships, and the emotions underneath the urge to use. You will have room to be honest, and we will turn insight into practical steps you can use in daily life. Accountability belongs here, without shame.

YOUR THERAPY WORK

How substance use disorder therapy can help

Our work is collaborative and tailored to your goals. Depending on what you need, we may focus on:

01

Understand your patterns

Understanding your patterns of alcohol or drug use and what tends to set them in motion.

02

Build coping skills

Building coping and distress tolerance skills for cravings, discomfort, and difficult emotions.

03

Create a realistic plan

Making a realistic plan for change, whether you are sober curious, ready to stop, or returning to recovery.

04

Strengthen recovery

Strengthening routines, boundaries, and support after residential treatment.

05

Work through what is underneath

Working through anxiety, grief, trauma, or other concerns that show up alongside substance use.

06

Reconnect with your values

Reconnecting with your values and building a life that feels worth showing up for.

I draw from motivational interviewing, CBT, ACT, and DBT skills. We will choose approaches that fit you, then look at what is helping and what needs to change.

MEETING YOU WHERE YOU ARE

Support for every stage of change

  • Questioning your use
You may not know whether you want to stop. We can look at your relationship with substances honestly, including what you gain from using and what you may be ready to do differently.

  • Making a change
We can build a concrete plan for triggers, urges, high-risk situations, and the moments when motivation fades. You do not have to rely on willpower alone.

  • Life after treatment
Leaving residential care can bring freedom and uncertainty at the same time. Therapy can help you carry your recovery skills into work, family, relationships, and ordinary Tuesdays.

  • Rebuilding after a return to use
A setback can be information, not the end of the story. We can examine what happened, respond to the immediate risks, and adjust the plan.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

You don't have to figure this out alone.

I am Season Yerasimides, an LPC-Associate and fully licensed Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) with a master's degree in counseling and a specialty in addiction.

I work with people facing substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns, and I know how vulnerable it can feel to say out loud that something needs to change.

My style is direct, supportive, and judgment-free. I will listen closely, ask honest questions, and help you turn what you learn about yourself into action. I believe you can take responsibility for your choices without reducing yourself to your hardest chapter. My hope is to help you create a life you do not want to escape from.

  • Do I need to have a substance use disorder diagnosis to start therapy?

No. You can come in because you are concerned about your drinking or drug use, curious about sobriety, or tired of the role substances play in your life. We can explore what is happening together.

  • What if I am not ready to stop drinking or using drugs?

You can still start the conversation. We will clarify your goals, talk openly about risks, and identify a next step that fits where you are. You do not need to pretend to feel certain.

  • Can therapy help after residential substance use treatment?

Yes. Ongoing therapy can help you practice recovery skills outside a structured setting, prepare for triggers, build support, and work through the thoughts and feelings that emerge as life changes.

  • Do you treat anxiety, trauma, or depression alongside substance use?

Yes. Substance use and mental health concerns often overlap. We will look at the whole picture and coordinate with other providers when your needs call for additional care.

  • Is outpatient therapy the same as detox or residential treatment?

No. If you may be physically dependent on alcohol, benzodiazepines, or another substance, talk with a medical professional before stopping abruptly. We can discuss whether outpatient therapy fits your needs and help identify when a higher level of care is appropriate.

  • Do you offer online appointments? Do you take insurance?

I offer in-person sessions in Kerrville and virtual appointments. Sessions are $150, and I do not take insurance. We can talk about fit during a free 15-minute consultation.
